Youth Counselling

Growing up between two cultures can be especially complex during the teen years. Young people often feel pressure to succeed at school, fit in with their peers, and meet family expectations, all while figuring out who they are. Counselling offers teens a safe, confidential space to talk openly, make sense of what they're going through, and build the skills they need to cope.

As a BC Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Licensed School Psychologist, and a former Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Clinician with the BC government, I have extensive experience supporting children, youth, and families. My background in school psychology helps me understand how learning, school, and social pressures can affect a teen's wellbeing. I offer culturally responsive, bilingual counselling in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin for youth ages 12 and up.

How It Works ?

Youth counselling is built on trust. I work with teens in a way that respects their growing independence while keeping families appropriately involved. Our work together typically includes:

  • An initial meeting with your teen and, where appropriate, their parents, to understand their concerns, background, and goals for counselling.

  • Individual sessions where your teen can talk openly in a confidential, non-judgmental space. We will discuss at the start what information is kept private and when parents will be involved, so everyone knows what to expect.

Why Choose Youth Counselling?

Teens don't always feel comfortable opening up to their parents or teachers, especially when they feel caught between different cultural expectations. Using evidence-based, youth-friendly approaches, we will work together to:

  • Manage anxiety, stress, and academic pressure in healthy, sustainable ways.

  • Navigate peer conflicts, friendships, and social challenges with greater confidence.

  • Build emotional regulation skills and a stronger sense of identity that they can carry into adulthood.
